Hosted by Wadi Mousa Widows and Family Development Association

The Widows and Family Development Association, established in 2012 by proud, empowering women in Wadi Musa, is a charitable organization with a dual mission. It aims to empower widows to become productive contributors rather than passive recipients of aid by providing assistance to widows and families in need in the Wadi Musa region. The association focuses on empowering widowed women and orphans through projects such as a productive kitchen and sewing workshop, uplifting the socio-economic conditions of the Wadi Musa region. Additionally, it supports university students, encourages self-sufficiency, and delivers healthcare services. Expressing passion and aspirations, the association aims to support more women in society and become a beacon for positive transformation, empowerment, and sustainable development in the Wadi Musa region.

About

Hop on a journey with the Widows and Developmental Families Association in Wadi Musa, where cultural traditions come alive through local experiences. Guests have the opportunity to choose their own adventure, either stepping into the heart of Jordanian cuisine by joining skilled local women in the kitchen to cook traditional dishes or discovering the art of Tatreez through a hands-on workshop.

In the kitchen, guests become part of the culinary heritage as they cook alongside remarkable women. Using organic, locally sourced ingredients such as pickles and virgin olive oil proudly presented by the association, participants craft authentic Jordanian dishes.

This experience not only celebrates the rich flavours but also supports the association's mission to empower women and contribute positively to the community. Guests let go in cultural immersion as they interact with local women, gaining new perspectives and creating meaningful connections.

Alternatively, guests can delve into the art of Tatreez, a traditional embroidery technique. Led by skilled women from the association, participants explore the symbolic stories woven into each stitch of traditional attire. They create their own unique piece, guided by the women who passionately share the cultural significance behind every thread. This hands-on workshop provides a unique opportunity for cultural experience, allowing participants to interact closely with local women and gain a deeper understanding of their traditions.

As the Widows and Developmental Families Association works to support and empower proud women, guests' chosen experiences become a meaningful contribution to their mission. Whether it's savouring the flavours of Jordan or crafting a piece of cultural heritage, a visit promises to be a light of positive transformation and a celebration of the vibrant traditions of Wadi Musa.
